The Opportunity: Child & Youth Program Leader

Are you well-organized and a natural at relating to and building relationships with children and youth?

Would you excel at leading programs for kids including child minding, arts & crafts, active group games, sports and swimming?

Do you want to be a key member of a team dedicated to building a healthier community?


If the following sounds like a good day at work, then this job might be for you!

  • Plan, implement and lead daily activities in accordance with YMCA standards and program expectations, based on program theme and age of participants
  • Foster meaningful relationships and provide a place to belong for children and families
  • Promote philanthropy through the YMCA's annual Strong Kids Campaign
  • Promote the YMCA's volunteer philosophy and integrate the value of volunteerism in dealing with members, volunteers, donors, and colleagues

We'd love to hear from people with:

  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C (or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment)
  • Post-secondary education in a child-related field considered an asset or on-the-job experience that is equivalent
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion to help children achieve their full potential through purposeful programming and implementation

  • Provide 3 references of a professional nature (e.g. Employer, Supervisor or Colleague)
  • Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than [six (6) months] preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
