Join our new Community Programs team at the YMCA! Enjoy a fun environment, with a flexible work schedule, all while helping to transform the lives of children and families in the Central Okanagan.
Beginning this Spring, the YMCA of Okanagan will provide free drop-in parent participation early years services at the Penticton Community Centre. These programs will integrate socializing, learning, and play opportunities for children ages 0-6 with individualized service navigation support for vulnerable families.
Reporting to the Family Support Facilitator, the Program Leader ensures drop-in programs will support children's developmental growth in a safe and fun environment while instilling the Y's core values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty. The candidate is energetic, personable, resourceful, well-organized, with superior interpersonal skills, and excels in a fast-paced, challenging work environment. Major Responsibilities:
- Supports implementation of play based educational programming
- Maintains safety and supervision of children and families
- Builds healthy relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
- Actively interacts with children ages 0-6 as a play partner
Qualifications:
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C (or willingness to obtain)
- Combination of relevant education and/or work experience acceptable
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Passion in helping children achieve their fullest potential through purposeful programming and implementation.
- Upon request provide 3 professional references (eg. Employer, Supervisor or Colleague)
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than 6 months preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
