Reporting to the HR Manager, People and Culture, this role has been developed to implement solid HR systems as the organization continues to focus on its people. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is energetic, charismatic, personable, well-organized, with superior interpersonal skills, and excels in a fast-paced, challenging work environment.

As an integral member of the HR team you will support and maintain the development of organizational strategies to deepen engagement with all employees and volunteers. You will proactively recruit top talent through an understanding from hiring managers of the Association's recruitment needs and requirements while maintaining ATS for future hiring and recruitment. You will also engage new employees and volunteers in an interactive orientation to the YMCA while instilling the Y's core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty ensuring engagement by all.

Compensation:  Competitive salary (based on experience)

  • 3 weeks paid vacation

Responsibilities:

  • Support and champion organizational HR strategies and initiatives of Recruitment, Retention, Onboarding and Recognition and Celebration Program(s) for all employees and volunteers.
  • Execute proactive recruiting strategy i.e. creating and maintaining attractive and effective job postings and descriptions, participating in job and volunteer fairs, maintaining a robust pipeline of qualified applicants for a variety of employee and volunteer positions using and maintaining ATS.
  • Maintaining volunteer paperwork & administrative tracking, including volunteer handbook.
  • Support internal communications for employees and volunteers.
  • Support coordination of and participate in the social activities for the staff and volunteers.
  • Work in compliance with all relevant legislation and organizational policies.
  • Support all fund-raising activities to sustain all projects of the organization, with emphasis on Health and Fitness.
  • Support in the interviews for volunteers matching volunteer candidates to roles based on their skills and interest.
  • Support in the completion of reference checks as well as CRC process in a timely fashion as needed.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • Working towards a Diploma in Human Resources
  • Experience working with volunteers considered an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with capability and desire to work within a collaborative team and possess an interest to grow into other HR related roles
  • Experience and strong working knowledge with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented with ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Occasional site travel required
  • Successful candidates are required to provide three references two must be professional in nature (i.e. employer, supervisor, teacher, coach or colleague)
  • Successful candidates are required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six months preceding start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork
