We are seeking an Administrative Assistant Intern for the Marketing and Communications department.  This position is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in a hands-on marketing role through an eight week summer internship. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative functions within the Marketing department and instilling the Y's core values of caring, respect, responsibility, honesty and inclusiveness. 

Reporting directly to the Marketing and Communications Coordinator, the Marketing Administrative Assistant Intern is a key team member to the Marketing and Communications Department, Association Services for the YMCA of Okanagan.   

 Major Responsibilities and Abilities: 

  • Assist the Marketing team in developing social media content
  • Monitor and respond to online comments
  • Generate leads/new members for the YMCA of Okanagan e-news program
  • Update media contact list to facilitate the effective distribution of press releases
  • Support with the implementation of several YMCA marketing campaigns
  • Provide event day support for YMCA events as required
  • Seek out communication opportunities within the Y facilities and throughout the community
  • Provide administrative and project support for the Marketing department including mailing, scanning, copying, organizing
  • Provide office services by implementing administrative systems, procedures, and policies, and monitoring administrative projects.
  • Work with various departments to finish necessary projects

 Qualifications:  

  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, organizational and time management skills
  • Good research skills and attention to detail
  • Upon request provide 3 references.  A minimum of 2 will be professional in nature (e.g. Employer, Supervisor or Colleague.  
  • This job has been, in part, funded by Employment and Social Development Canada Summer Jobs Grant and the candidate must be between the ages of 15-30 years
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than [six (6) months] preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
