Position Details:

The Beyond the Bell (BTB) Supervisor is both an all around superstar and a key member of the Child Care Department. You are energetic, personable, resourceful, well-organized, with superior interpersonal skills, and excel in challenging fast paced work environments. The successful candidate will be reporting directly to the Child Care Manager, the BTB Child Care Supervisor is a key member of the Child Care Department.

Beyond the Bell is an after-school academic enrichment program that assists children with literacy and numeracy. Additionally, the program incorporates activities that foster optimal developmental growth and cultivate the YMCA's core values of; caring, respect, responsibility and honesty. Participants will engage in sport, outdoor play, science, and arts and crafts while improving social, numeric and literacy skills.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all safety and supervision standards are met
  • Provide a nurturing, fun and safe environment for children
  • Create meal plans and purchase food within the programs budget
  • Set the weekly and monthly program plans and purchases supplies within the programs budget
  • Build healthy relationships with children, parents, teachers, school administration, and YMCA colleagues
  • Prepare high quality weekly program plans incorporating the Y values of Caring, Responsibility, Honesty and Respect.

Qualifications:

  • Must be 19 years of age
  • Must have current First Aid Certification
  • Certificate/diploma/degree in a related field
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience working with children in a learning environment or in a child care setting
  • Valid B.C. driver's license (Class 4 operator's licence is considered an asset)
  • Upon request provide 3 professional references. (e.g. Employer, Supervisor or Colleague) required
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork
