Reporting to the Manager of Child Care Programs, Early Childhood Educators will assist in the delivery of high-quality programs, instilling the YMCA's core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty. All Educators will be trained in the YMCA Play to Learn emergent curriculum and have access to learning materials to facilitate a YMCA Playing to Learn licensed Child Care Centre at the brand new to be opened Queens Park location.

Currently, the YMCA of Okanagan child care division serves over 500 families with over 60 staff. The Queen's Park Child Care location will offer care to 12 Infant Toddlers, 25 3-5 year old's, and 10 preschool spaces along with 12 school age spaces.  With 2 new multi-age locations opening in Penticton and central Kelowna, we will continue to grow and provide best-in-class care and programming for more families in the Okanagan. Major Responsibilities:

  • Read, understand and follow all Provincial and YMCA requirements and standards
  • Plan and implement a consistent child centered preschool program in accordance with YMCA standards
  • Ensure all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained according to licensing and YMCA requirements
  • Ensure the delivery of a high-quality program and age appropriate care that meet best practices whereby enhancing children's development and learning
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the YMCA, including children, their families, staff and the community
     

Qualifications:

  • Only candidates who hold an Early Childhood Educators Certificate will be considered for this position
  • First Aid certificate - required
  • Class 4 driver's license (van transportation) considered an asset
  • Additional courses/training related to child growth and development (will be considered an asset)
  • Enthusiasm, energy, interpersonal and organizational skills necessary to support a positive team environment
  • Successful candidates are required to provide three references two must be professional in nature (i.e. employer, supervisor, teacher, coach or colleague)
  • Successful candidates are required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six months preceding start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork

Compensation:

  • Starting at $18.00/hr.
  • 3 weeks paid vacation
