Position Details:

Reporting to the Manager of Child Care Programs, the Early Childhood Educator Assistant will assist in the delivery of high-quality programs, instilling the YMCA's core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty. All Educators will be trained in the YMCA Play to Learn emergent curriculum and have access to learning materials to facilitate a YMCA Playing to Learn licensed Child Care Centre at KSS Young Parent Program.

Currently, the YMCA of Okanagan child care division serves over 500 families with over 60 staff. The KSS Young Parent Program offers care to 12 Infant Toddlers, and 16 3-5 year old's. We are continuing to grow while providing best-in-class care and programming for more families in the Okanagan. With our growth comes opportunities for you to grow and succeed with us!

KSS Child Care



Major Responsibilities and Abilities:

  • Read, understand and follow all Provincial and YMCA requirements and standards
  • Plan and implement a consistent child centered program in accordance with YMCA standards
  • Ensure all safety and supervision standards are implemented and maintained according to licensing and YMCA requirements
  • Ensure the delivery of a high-quality program and age appropriate care that meet best practices whereby enhancing children's development and learning
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the YMCA, including children, their families, staff and the community


  • Only candidates who hold an Early Childhood Educators Assistant License to Practice in BC will be considered for this position
  • First Aid certificate - required
  • Additional courses/training related to child growth and development (will be considered an asset)
  • Enthusiasm, energy, interpersonal and organizational skills necessary to support a positive team environment
  • Successful candidates are required to provide three professional references (i.e. employer, supervisor, teacher, coach or colleague)
  • Successful candidates are required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six months preceding start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork
