We are seeking a Mindfulness Program Facilitator who is energetic, personable, resourceful, well-organized, with superior interpersonal skills, and excels in a fast-paced, challenging work environment. If that sounds like you, then this is your ideal job!

Reporting directly to the Manager of Mindfulness Programs, the Mindfulness Program Facilitator is a key team member to the Community Division at the YMCA of Okanagan.

The Mindfulness Program Facilitator is experienced in group facilitation and responsible for delivering multiple sessions of the Youth Mindfulness group-based curriculum. The Lead Facilitator instills the Y's core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty while building relationships with our members.

Major Responsibilities and Abilities:

  • Facilitate psycho-educational workshops using the evidence based approach of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Ability to facilitate a minimum of 1 session per season (Fall 2019 & Winter 2020). Each session requires 3 hours per week for 8 weeks
  • Provide coaching and support to community partners who agree to deliver the program
  • Ability to work late afternoons and evenings in a fast-paced workplace with timelines and competing priorities


  • Masters Degree in mental health field such as Psychology, Counselling or Social Work
  • Experience developing and facilitating stress management and coping skills workshops
  • Experience working with young persons 13-30 years of age experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and mood problems
  • Experience conducting intakes and assessments
  • Transportation available to travel to community sites
  • Upon request provide 3 professional references (eg. Employer, Supervisor or Colleague).
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
